I changed my ISP recently and consequently had to re-connect all of my tablets, phones, computers, TV's and other devices to the new Network. I have 4 Google Nest Mesh Routers (one acts as the router and the other 3 are WiFi access points. I have a Nest thermostat and 3 Wired- Nest Protects- smoke/CO detectors. Since my change my Protects seem to occasionally go offline. I have managed to get them back on WiFi but I had to clear the settings and go through the choose network steps all over again. After going through that process yesterday I had all three protects online but 2 were indicating No Power (they were plugged in and the little green light was on). This morning I checked and now the one Protect that the other 2 connected to for WiFi Information is now offline with one of the other Protects still indicating No Power although the Green Light is on. So What I want to do is uninstall the Nest App and Install the newest Nest Life Style app and Reinstall my Protects, Thermostat and link the new Lifestyle app to my existing Google account. What steps must I go through to make this happen. In particular, how can I make sure the new Lifestyle app is linked to my existing Google account and do you think changing to the new app will keep my devices online and connected?

Hi pbMac,
Thanks for reaching out to the community and for providing such detailed information! I understand you've been having some inconveniences with your Nest Protects after changing your ISP. I appreciate you for reconnecting them to your Wi-Fi network. However, after this process, three of your Nest Protects came online, but two of them were indicating 'No Power' despite being plugged in and showing a green light. Recently, one of them has gone offline. Now you're planning to migrate to the new app and re-add your devices. I'll be glad to help you with this!
While Nest Protects can only be added on the Nest app, you first need to set them up there. After setup, they can then be managed in the Google Home app. Please check out our helpful article to learn more: Nest Protect now available in the Google Home app
In the meantime, I'd like to ask some questions to isolate the root cause of the inconvenience:
Please let me know if you have any other information; it'll be helpful.
Best regards,
Juan

I have second generation Nest Protects which expire in 2028. I have both the Nest App and the Google Home App. The Google Home App allows me to monitor my Nest Protects, showing recent Safety checks, indicating if they are Online/ Offline and if they are receiving Power or Power out. Google Home does not allow me to interact with the Nest Protects. When I click on the Gear Icon I get links to generic troubleshooting webpages, but no corrective buttons. I don’t know how to determine if I have an updated version of the Nest App. I went to the App Store and could only see Google Home or the Nest Lifestyle App. Judging from the description, the Lifestyle App doesn’t appear to have any control over Nest Protects.
Today I reconnected my Nest Protects to WiFi but according to both the Google Home App and the Nest App one of my Protects has no power, displaying Power out. Meanwhile the little green power light burns brightly as ever. Not sure what gives.

Hi pbMac,
Thanks for following up and confirming those details. I understand you're using both the Google Home and Nest apps. While Google Home shows status like online/offline and power, it doesn't offer control. The persistent inconvenience with the "power out" status for one of your 2nd gen Nest Protects in both apps, even though its green light is on, is really affecting your experience. I'll be glad to help you with this!
While your 2nd gen Nest Protects can be managed in the Google Home app, you'll only be able to interact with them on the Nest app.
To troubleshoot this inconvenience, I'd like to share some steps:
Replace your Nest Protect's batteries. Visit our helpful article to do so: Replace Nest Protect's batteries
Factory reset your Nest Protect. Please check out the following link for your reference: Reset Nest Protect and erase all settings
Add it to your Wi-Fi network again.
Please let me know how it goes. I look forward to your response.
Best regards,
Juan
